U.S. Baird Four Slides

The U.S. Baird Four Slide is more versatile than a punch press, offering standard components, including forming slides, cams, stock straightener, slide feed and optional press heads. The result is greater flexibility than a punch press, which is limited to a single-direction tool motion and requires special cams and slides built into the die to accomplish complex forms or bends.

The U.S. Baird Four Slide includes four cam-actuated forming slides set 90 degrees apart, each of which can be timed independently. Key to the machine's performance is the four slides that operate horizontally, the center form and two vertical forming motions. Each motion may be tooled for different stamping, forming or part-ejection functions. The machine's versatility is further increased by adding an optional press for swaging, piercing, trimming and other typical die operations.

U.S. Baird Four Slides take wire or flat stock directly from a coil. They then straighten, feed and cut to the required length before forming and ejecting the completed part. With optional attachments, you can complete a variety of other forming, welding and assembly operations.

Ten different Four Slides are available that can form wire up to 1/2 inch in diameter and coil stock to 1-1/2 inches wide, with feed lengths up to 39 inches. The series includes the 1-RWI, the only Four Slide that offers inclinable operation, and the Model 00, with its unique modular design and operating speed up to 500 strokes per minute.
